- Today I downloaded 2 software updates; OSX 10.9.5 and Safari 7.1. The download speed was very slow and erratic. The activity monitor showed that the process 'softwareipdated' was receiving data at anywhere from 1 to 25 kbs. My DSL connection is never very fast but typically receives 130 to 150 kbs.
